| CENTRES OF POWER IN EUROPE COMEIUS 1 PROJECT School year 2004-2005 |
|
| Objective: | To deepen the knowledge of the students of the historical past of their own countries, to compare the investigated places-the centres of power, in order to find similarities due to our common European roots, and in broader perspective - to be educated in the spirit of tolerance to those who are different from them, and to make a step to becoming aware of the European identity |
|
Brief description: |
Each of the participating institutions will investigate the different types of power and the places they are exercised in their own countries, e.g. a church - as a centre of the religious power, a law courts - for the judiciary power, the building of the parliament - for the legislative power, the building of the government - for the executive power, etc. The participants will study the centres of power regarding their architecture, they will look for subordination between the architecture of the building and its function. They will trace the centres of the different powers through the centuries in their own countries and will search for similarities; they will find out differences due to the development of culture and architecture in particular, in their home countries and in Europe. And after exchanging information will search for similarities and differences among the centres of power in the different European countries. As e result of their work the participants will come to several global conclusions, namely: Europe is our common home, all the European peoples have common roots and their cultural development is interrelated; each culture bears its own characteristics that make it unique and valuable. And last but not least in importance, the students will develop very important skills - to work in a team, to think analytically, to use modern technologies, and they will work in an atmosphere of tolerance to those that are different from them, atmosphere of mutual understanding and friendship. |

The future: |
We intend to continue our cooperation in the period 2005-2006. We'll apply for a third year renewal, we would like to start a language project or collaborate in the E-twinning programme of the EU. Whatever happens, we are going to have new friends from our partner schools and remember the exchange visits and the things we learned about them and their cultures, for ever. |
